40 Years of Beauty

Not ten , or twenty, or thirty, forty years have passed since the birth in the cosmopolitan capital of London  , of who would become one day in one of the most influential and best-paid models in the world, a new icon of beauty who broke the standards of what was considered a beautiful woman of her time , and last but not least , she is also worldwide known for her style, a style that still today we still admire, for a day like today , 16 January 1974 , Kate Moss opened her eyes for the first time.

Cualquiera que me conozca en persona es consciente de la admiración que siento por Kate Moss, y es que olvidándonos por un instante de los numerosos escándalos que ha protagonizado a lo largo de su carrera, la aportación de esta mujer al mundo de la moda (e incluso al mundo en general), va mucho más allá de ser una de las modelos más prolíficas (desde bien jovencita) de la historia, de haber sido portada de cualquier publicación o revista que se precie, de haber recorrido las mejores pasarelas del mundo de la mano de los diseñadores más influyentes del momento, de haber sido imagen de las firmas más emblemáticas y poderosas, e incluso de haber sido la fuente de inspiración para toda una generación de artistas. Y digo esto porque el hecho del triunfo de Moss como mujer de portada  y modelo de belleza a seguir, supuso en su día, toda una revolución tanto dentro del mundo de la moda como en la sociedad en general.

El éxito de Kate (que aún perdura) supuso todo un cambio de mentalidad, el canon de belleza establecido empezó a cuestionarse y se dio lugar a un proceso evolutivo, que hoy podemos apreciar a simple vista al contemplar como son las modelos que ocupan las portadas de nuestras revistas favoritas.

Shall we say then that these girls-models are less beautiful than the blonde bombshell prototype like Pamela Anderson in its heyday?

Sin tocar la polémica acerca de la delgadez de las modelos actuales (que está la cosa que arde), gracias a representantes de modelos como Sarah Daukas (fundadora de Storm models) que descubrió a Kate a sus 14 años en el aeropuerto internacional John F. Kennedy y que creyó en ella desde el primer momento y que ha sido pionera en la búsqueda de nuevos rostros para la industria, hoy en día el canon de lo que se considera una mujer bella no está definido, cada vez se buscan más rostros alternativos, bellezas exóticas y bellezas distintas, mujeres que tienen un "Je ne sais quoi", mujeres con rasgos que tras ser considerados por muchos como feos han pasado a querer ser imitados y reivindicados como algo excepcional, diferente... Por que ya no hablamos de ser guapa por nacimiento como era entonces, ahora hablamos de ser diferente, basta del cuento de la "mujer real", porque si no nos metemos con la delgadez de las actuales, nos meteríamos con la belleza de las de antes, exponiendo ideas como la de que esas mujeres tan guapas tampoco son reales sino excepciones.  Porque.. ¿Qué sería de las cejas de Cara Delevigne, los dientes de Georgia May Jagger, o el peculiar rostro de Lara Stone, rasgos muy característicos de mujeres consideradas como ejemplos de belleza (perdonad que repita esta palabra tanto a lo largo del post), si la sociedad no hubiera cambiado? ¿Diríamos entonces que son menos bellas que el prototipo rubia explosiva tipo Pamela Anderson en sus tiempos de gloria?

Y entonces fue cuando me dije: Jorge, esto tiene que aparecer en The Queens also Fart.

Un poco lejos de parecerse a nuestros clásicos, y en muchos casos ya aburridos, modelos de bolsos favoritos, estos must have de inspiración motera vienen a ser lo que yo llamaría "indispensables" para la temporada que está por venir; estilo tote, satchel, clucth... ¡Me gustan todos! Y ya sé que no son los típicos bolsos en los que invertirías si quisieras darte por primera vez el capricho de comprarte un bolso algo más curioso, pero piensa que estos son diseños de temporada, y que la que viene ya no estarán disponibles, en cambio los "inmortales" de toda la vida sí, y la siguiente y así progresivamente. Además no por ello muchos de ellos dejan de ser menos atemporales, y es que en definitiva, como ya he dejado caer a lo largo del post en un par de ocasiones, son unos auténticos "must haves", de esos que no tendrías vida suficiente para arrepentirte por no haberte dado el "sí quiero" con ellos y sí con cualquier otro bolso.
